BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Loughborough, celebrated the Hindu New Year on Sunday 2 November 2008. The majestic Annakut was complemented with a number of colourful rangoli patterns and arti designs created by the children and teenagers.
Devotees and families arrived at the Mandir from early morning to offer their prayers for the coming year. With over 450 dishes being offered and over 400 visitors, the Annakut celebration was a huge success in bringing together devotees, families, friends and members of the wider community.
In the evening, representatives from various local faith communities, including the Geeta Bhavan, Shri Rama Krishna Centre, and the Guru Dwara, also arrived at the Mandir alongside local councillors, representatives from Loughborough Police Force, members from the Museum of Loughborough, and the Honorary Freeman of Charnwood Borough, Mike Jones, and his wife, Marj. |
