• Ghanshyam is another name for Bhagwan Swaminarayan, the name He was known by as a child.
• Ghanshyam renounced home at the age of 11 to embark on a 7-year, 7,000-mile spiritual journey across the length and breadth of India. Throughout, He walked barefooted, carrying little, alone.
• Eventually settling in Gujarat, He established the Swaminarayan Sampradaya and initiated over 3,000 sadhus, built six majestic mandirs, and inspired the writing of scores of scriptures by His sadhus.
• He Himself wrote the Shikshapatri, a code of conduct for spiritually-inclined people; and delivered the Vachanamrut, a collection of discourses revealing the essence of Vedic wisdom with a means for imbibing it in daily life.
